My Eureka! Story started when I was just a baby. I was 7 months old and I visited Santa’s Grotto dressed as a fairy. I enjoyed many visits after that at least once a month throughout my childhood.
Across the years, on my visits to Eureka!, I have taken part in many workshops and pantos such as ‘Alice in Blunderland’ and the ‘McEureka! Burns night weekend’. I’ve made so many different things that really brought out my creativity and I’ve also got to know so many different Enablers who have helped me have so much fun on every visit.
When I was 7 my mum saw an advert online, Eureka wanted photos to be submitted of children to possibly take part in their new campaigns, leaflets and other promotional material such as banners. We submitted a photo and I was over the moon to be chosen. I had so much fun on the shoot; it was amazing! There were so many different costumes to try on and so many props to be enthralled with.
I think the photo shoot must have gone well because they invited me back to do another one. This time for the new gallery: All About Me! which was so exciting! There was no guarantee that any of the pictures would be used in the gallery, however I was amazed when I attended the opening of the new gallery and saw my own face on the main wall of the exhibition! I went inside and to my ultimate surprise, there was another picture of me there in the dentist surgery! There are no words that I know to say how proud I was that day (and it didn’t help that I lost my thesaurus either!)
I have recently attended the Eureka! 25 birthday weekend and the opening of another new gallery. In the summer, I will be paying another visit with my best friend, and we are both looking forward to it, even at 12 years old.
And that brings me back to the very beginning of my story.
So many memorable visits to Eureka! it was hard to narrow them down! I hope that you find your own Eureka story as I did and it becomes a special part of your childhood, as it has mine.
HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY EUREKA!!!
